There is a range of equipment available to help maintain your independence in completing personal hygiene tasks. From daily living aids and perching stools to grab rails and adaptations there are a lot of options available to you.

Equipment can be privately purchased from a wide range of retailers both online and on the high street.  If you feel that you need further information or advice please call Adult Social Care on 0113 2224401 to make a referral.  Someone will call you back to discuss the difficulties you are having and if necessary, arrange for an assessment when equipment may be provided to you, from Leeds Equipment Service, free of charge.

Hygiene daily living aids

daily living aids with foam tubingThere are lots of things available to help maintain your independence in your daily hygiene tasks. Changes may be as simple as adding some foam to the handles of your hairbrush or toothbrush to increase the surface area and make it easier to grip.

 

 

 

Other things you may want to consider include

  • using electric razor or tooth brush to reduce the time it takes to complete a task
  • using long handed brushes or sponge to reduce bending and reaching
  • using a utensil holder straps to stop things falling to the floor
  • using weighted cuffs to reduce the effect of hand tremors
