Bath Lift

Bath lifts may be useful for people who can’t use bath boards/seats. They lower the person down into the bath and then rise up to the level of the side of the bath to enable the person to get in and out more easily.

White plastic bath lift

Internal powered bath lift

This powered bath seat lowers and raises a person into a bath. This bath seat is secured by large rubber suckers and is powered rechargeable batteries or by mains powered compressed air. Some bath seats include padding to increase comfort and come in a range of weight limits.

Benefits

Helps people get in and out of the bath where other bathing equipment may not be suitable.

Things to consider

The base of the bath must be wide enough to accommodate the bath lift and allow suckers to stick securely.

For battery bath lifts users need to be able to remove the battery and place it on a charger

For mains powered bath lifts there needs to be an electrical socket near the bathroom for the compressor and the air lead should not be a trip hazard.

For manual bath lifts it is important that the user or carer are able to manage the winding mechanism.

Due to the size/shape/mouldings of some baths and bathrooms, products may not fit correctly. It is important to check this if you purchase one.
