There is a range of equipment available to help maintain your independence in completing personal hygiene tasks. From daily living aids and perching stools to grab rails and adaptations there are a lot of options available to you.

Equipment can be privately purchased from a wide range of retailers both online and on the high street.  If you feel that you need further information or advice please call Adult Social Care on 0113 2224401 to make a referral.  Someone will call you back to discuss the difficulties you are having and if necessary, arrange for an assessment when equipment may be provided to you, from Leeds Equipment Service, free of charge.

Bath steps

Bath steps are used to reduce the height you need to lift your legs to step over the side of the bath.

Bath steps can be of various heights to suit how you access your bath and some come with rail attached to the side to give you added hand held support or cork board tops to provide secure footing. 

Benefits

A step helps you get in and out of the bath.

A rail gives you something to hold to help you step into the bath

A rail helps you to move the step if you have difficult bending down

Things to consider

Depending on the height of your bath and your mobility you may want a step with more than one level and to have additional grab rails to help you step down in to the bath.

Steps should not cause a trip hazard in the bathroom.

It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions observe weight limits.
