The Bathroom

The bathroom is an important room in our home but is also somewhere that can represent a lot of risks and challenges.

Navigate through our bathroom to find out about aids and equipment that can help you feel confident and safe.

Being able to find the toilet easily, especially during the night, helps people retain their independence and dignity. Ideally, your bathroom should be visible from the bedroom door, but motion-activated night lights and clear signage can help if that isn’t possible.

Having a contrasting colour toilet seat can make it easier to distinguish, reducing the chance of accidents.

Falls in the bathroom are common, so it is important that help arrives quickly. A door that can be opened from the outside using a screwdriver or coin is a small change that could save a life. A door that opens outwards can also make it easier to help someone who has fallen against the door.

Having a walk in shower can help reduce the risk of falls.
