As part of their commitment to the armed forces community Leeds City Council disregards all payments made under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (2005) and the War Pension Scheme as income, when assessing eligibility for Housing Benefit.

Op FORTITUDE

Op FORTITUDE provides a centralised referral pathway into veteran supported housing. The team works with individual veterans at risk of or experiencing homelessness to find suitable accommodation or maintain their current home.

Veterans Nomination Scheme

The Veterans Nomination Scheme aims to support and rehabilitate veterans through safe sustainable housing. The scheme also supports veterans who have been living in unsuitable accommodation and seeks to fill the housing gap for working-age veterans.

Leeds Housing Options

Leeds Housing Options aims to prevent homelessness, they offer advice and assistance to those in housing and homelessness related need. They offer advice on how to secure a home whether this is council housing, housing association housing or privately rented accommodation. 

Engage Leeds

Engage Leeds is a city-wise housing support service which works to support those who are struggling to managing their housing situation on a one to one basis. You can refer yourself or be referred by a professional supporting you.

Royal Star and Garters has established the Veteran Friendly Framework which is designed for used in residential settings for older people. The Veteran Friendly Framework helps care providers to offer appropriate support for the thousand of veterans living in care homes across England.

This is a new framework, which sets eight standards providers need to meet as part of their accreditation. Ask your chose residential care home provider about the Veteran Friendly Framework.
