Transitioning to civilian life

Leaving the armed forces is a big step which impacts both the service leaver and their family. The sooner you start to thinks about aspects of transition that will affect your life the more likely your experience will be a positive one.

During your transition you will need to think about your;

  • housing
  • finances
  • employment, education and skills
  • health and wellbeing

Leeds Directory has brought together some information and signposting to help support the military community in the city.

Please look through these information or pick the section most relevant to you.

The shift into non-military life can bring challenges, leading to veterans feeling detached and caught between military and civilian worlds. This can lead to a number of issues which can lead to veterans being at risk of offending.

Op Nova provides support for veterans who are in contact with the justice system, enabling them to access the services they need. Op NOVA works across all needs to deliver practical and emotional support and help veterans engage with healthcare services appropriate to them.
