Door sensor

A door sensor recognizes that opening of a door and sends an alarm to the response centre. These can be used on both doors inside the house and doors going outside.

Spyhole

A spyhole is a small lens which is inserted into a door to allow you to see who is on the other side. The lenses are arranged in such a way that it is only possible to look through one way.

Doorbell camera

A doorbell camera is a Wi-Fi-enabled smart device with motion detectors, recording capabilities, and a speaker that allows you to speak to the person at the door. It alerts you when somebody is at the door, even when the doorbell is not pressed.

Benefits

Door Sensors will send an alert when a door is opened, which may help prevent a vulnerable person leaving the property at an inappropriate time.

A spyhole can allow you to answer the door without having to open it.

Wi-fi based doorbell cameras and doorbells can be set up to alert to your phone or smart TV to show you who is calling without having to open a door.

Things to consider

Doorbell sensors can be triggered when people enter the property, i.e. care givers. Sensors can be set not to alert at set time i.e. during daylight hours.

The fitting of a spyhole may require modification to an existing door or its replacement.

Doorbell cameras require access to wi-fi and the internet to set them up. Wireless intercom systems may be more convenient.
