What is the Leeds Accredited Waste Carrier Scheme?
LAWCS helps Leeds residents find someone local, legal, and responsible to take away their waste.
If you need to get rid of some waste from your home or garden, then this list will help you find responsible waste carriers. All the members on this list have been accredited by Leeds City Council.

The cost of someone taking your waste away is affected by two main things:
- Size and weight
The more rubbish you have, the more you pay for its removal. Larger amounts take longer to load, which increases the labour cost. Responsible waste carriers deposit at legal disposal sites, which charge by the weight of rubbish.
- Type of waste
Fridges, TVs and upholstered furniture cost a lot more to be recycled safely, so you should expect to pay more for these to be collected, compared with general or garden waste.
You can find a more detailed breakdown of what a legitimate firm pays to get rid of your waste on the Leeds City Council website.
If the waste carrier also has a green tick against them, you can expect them to:
- Be a legitimate business
- Have had criminal record checks
Search our waste carrier list, and please leave a review to help others.
