Choosing a Service Provider
To help things go smoothly when you buy a service, you should:
Look for the Green Tick
If a company is listed in the Leeds Directory and offers help in your home, garden, or out in the community, we have checked and approved them.
These trusted companies have a green tick next to their name. Find out more about the Green Tick
Check Ratings and Reviews
Before choosing a service, look at the star ratings and reviews. These show what other people think about the help they got.

Compare Providers
If you are buying products or services—like cleaners, carers, or builders—it’s a good idea to speak to at least three different providers. This helps you compare prices and what they offer.
Providers with a Green Tick should:
- Give you a written quote on paper with their name and logo.
- Show what work they will do and if VAT is included.
- Give you a receipt or invoice after the work is done.
It can be helpful to make sure that you:
-
Know what you need help with.
-
Make sure you understand the cost.
-
Ask questions if you’re not sure.
-
Write down what you agree with them.
