OCD Action works for a society where OCD and related conditions like BDD, Trichotillomania, and Dermatillomania are better understood, recognised, and diagnosed, where appropriate treatment options are open and accessible, where support and information is readily available, and where nobody feels ashamed to ask for help.
The OCD Action Helpline is a confidential and unbiased service offering listening and information services to anyone affected by OCD or a related condition. We run over the phone and over email, and provide information around how OCD and related conditions work, what the recommended treatments are and how to access them, and other support that is available. We are particularly experienced and knowledgeable around supporting people to navigate the NHS mental health system. We aren’t affiliated with the NHS, and we aren’t a clinical service. This means that we don’t offer therapy or individual medical advice, and we don’t have any mental health professionals on staff.
OCD and related conditions can be incredibly debilitating and exhausting, but the good news is that they are very treatable conditions. There are well-studied, proven treatments that are available through the NHS as well as privately, which can help people get their lives back no matter what their symptoms look like. The key is to receive the right treatment at the right level, which we can support individuals with.
