Wetherby and District University of the Third Age (U3A)
The U3A is a nationwide self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment. Members take up educational, creative and leisure activities in a friendly and informal setting. The U3A approach to learning is purely for pleasure. Local U3As are run entirely by volunteers.
Wetherby & District has now over 100 groups ranging from Archaeology and Art all the way through the alphabet to Walking and Wine Appreciation. Most groups take place during the day at local venues or at members' houses.
There is a monthly Open Meeting with guest speakers on the last Wednesday of every month at Wetherby Methodist Chapel from 2.30pm. After the talk members meet socially for a cup of tea or coffee.A small annual fee (presently £12) is payable to cover local expenses and to cover a capitation fee to the national U3A.
